Shark Rocket DuoClean Review
Stick vacuum cleaners are portable and light. Plus, they don’t tire you out in the same way a canister vacuum cleaner does. Stick vacuums are always an excellent choice – they ensure you clean your home efficiently and as effortlessly as possible.
In this article, we’ll examine one of them; The Shark Rocket DuoClean Ultra-Light Corded Vacuum Cleaner (HV382) – and see if it’s worth your money in the long run.
It can be immensely challenging to choose the perfect vacuum cleaner for you and home – and if you’re experiencing this struggle, you certainly aren’t alone. There are so many brands on the market that promise you great results, but most of the time, you’re unsure if you’re making the right buying choice. Nobody likes buying something expensive, then having to repackage it, return it, and even potentially waste money on return shipping. This is exactly why it’s important that you fully research your vacuum.
If you’re thinking about buying a Shark Rocket Vacuum Cleaner, we’ve done the difficult and intensive research for you – helping you make an informed choice and clean your house as best as you can.
What to Expect from the Shark Rocket DuoClean
Even though this isn’t a revolutionary or completely unique vacuum, it’s certainly among some of the most affordable vacuums on the market today. The attachments are the same as what you would expect in other cleaners, but everything is less than half the price of the more expensive cleaners; making it a fantastic choice for those on a budget who still want a high quality vacuum – without breaking their bank.
Even though it may not shine or perform like high-end vacuums, it’s very far from a bad choice. Of course, there are some features that might irritate you or inconvenience you – for instance the cord. However, if you’ve ever used a corded vacuum, you’ll have a similar experience to that, regardless if you’re a frequent or infrequent vacuumer. If you like the idea of using a handheld stick vacuum but you don’t want a cord in your way, then you can actually pick between a cordless or corded version of a Shark Rocket! Shark has various different models – corded, cordless, stick, canister, and more – plenty enough to pick and choose from.
This is an in-hand, corded, lightweight vacuum, with the handheld part weighing about 4.2 pounds (includes the power cord, primary motor and bin). All these attachments will add some weight, but the entire machine is easy to handle and light; even if you include the extension tube (the heaviest setup) and the floor nozzle.
The cord might be a nuisance to you if you are used to cordless vacuum cleaners, but it isn’t necessarily a deal breaker in many cases.
The nozzle itself is 3 inches tall and 10.5 inches wide, which is quite a low profile compared to other cleaners. When you combine this with the ability of the nozzle to completely recline as you use it, cleaning your floors and areas under your furniture is quick and easy.
As mentioned earlier, the cord can be quite inconveniencing, especially when you compare it with other cleaners. However, the cord is still long at 30 feet, so you’ll have no problem cleaning small rooms or a large room comfortably. You will just need to re-plug and unplug it between rooms – but the positive about corded vacuums are:
- You don’t have to worry about recharging the battery
- No battery replacements needed
- Cheaper than cordless
Besides a minor inconvenience, corded vacuums are still great choices, and will typically always be cheaper than their cordless counterparts.
Knowing the type of filter and if it’s washable or not is another important factor to look for when buying a vacuum cleaner. Some vacuums are made with filters that can’t be cleaned, and need to be replaced. You should also try to get some info and take a look at the filter maintenance and the bin when you’re checking the usability, and the Shark Rocket DuoClean has both a washable filter, as well as a dustbin. These are preferred by many people, so this is another plus.
The Shark Rocket DuoClean has a side latch, which you press down to open the dustbin’s hatch door. Even though you still have to manually close it, it’s simple and quick. Emptying the bin is easy!
However, the positioning of the cord might be annoying to some people, but I’ve used vacuums that have been poorly designed with a much worse cord location. Besides, the general ergonomics of the vacuum cleaner means that the cord will always be behind you as you clean the room, unless you decide to move in a winded path while cleaning.
The attachment will also pivot as you use the extension tube and floor cleaning nozzle, which allows you to clean around corners and under your furniture. If you remove the extension hose and use the vacuum without it, it’s very easy to attach the other cleaning accessories.
The power of the motor and suction is quite impressive here, and you can attribute it to the fact that it uses outlet power instead of battery power. I’m not trying to say that battery powered vacuums are weak, but rather, corded vacuums will typically be able to utilize a stronger motor vs. a battery powered vacuum. With that said, if a vacuum is designed efficiently, it can have a strong motor and use little power.
Pet Owners: If you happen to own pets, there’s no need to worry about cleaning their hairs; the brush roll design is powerful and soft enough to pick up any debris or pet hair, especially if you have a hardwood floor or low pile carpet.
The floor nozzle also sits on the ground directly without the wheel height adjustment, unlike similar models. This means that depending on the surface, you might have some issues trying to pick up large debris, although it still manages to pick up most dirt.
Since the bristles are quite stiff, they could potentially have issues with picking up very fine debris and dust particles, but should have little to no issues with pet hair. The floor nozzle also struggles to pick up large debris, such as cereal pieces.
You’ll get a 1 year warranty when you buy the Shark Rocket DuoClean. You can purchase replacement parts from the support page on their website here. Or, if you prefer, you can buy replacement parts on Amazon for less here. You can reach Shark’s customer service through phone or live chat. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to do regular maintenance on your own, such as rinsing the filter every month and emptying the bin when full.
- Performs great on several different types of surfaces
- Great for picking up pet hair and medium to small pieces of food, dust, dander
- Helpful accessories included – hand vacuum is always a wonderful option
- Strong suction
- Long cord length
- 5 year warranty
- LED lights are always helpful when trying to look for dirt/dust
- Struggles with larger debris
- The cord can be annoying to move around
If you need a vacuum cleaner that has great reviews and comes at a reasonable price, then the Shark Rocket DuoClean is a great choice. It doesn’t need to be recharged, has a long cord, an easy to use dust bin, great suction, has many helpful accessories, and can be used as a portable handheld vacuum too. On top of all of that, even if you don’t like it, you can always return it without a hassle. However, I don’t suspect you’ll want to ever return it once you use it to deep clean your home!
